Lady in Hague

Delegation of Belarusian High School and University sudents visited the model in Hague.

At first, honorable delegates, I would like to congratulate you with the beginning of this Belamun Confrence! Not so far I came back from one of the most well-known model UN conferences - MUNISH (Model United Nations in Hague). Of course the point of the conference is the same, but it is a bit different from BELAMUN. The first that you recognize arriving to the opening ceremony is that HUGE amount of participants! There were so many people, that only 3 delegates from the whole group could attend opening and clothing ceremony. It’s so because they don’t have separate sessions for school and university students. But actually they don’t need to: almost all the participants are 14-18 years old and haven’t graduated from school. One more thing I really like about MUN abroad is such a big variety of different nations: Ukranian, Indian, German, Spanish, British, Belgian - whatever you like! So, you may make friends with people from different part of globe and discover the way they live. But sometimes during the committee sessions they talk with such an incomprehensible accent, that you can’t catch anything (especially when topic is very hot and the delegate tries to prove his point).

One more thing surprising for me, is that chair persons are really young in compare with ours :) Almost all of them are 15-16 years old. On our second day there were three workshops: New Chair, New Delegate and Public Speaking. If delegate wanted to, he could attend any of them. Not only at Opening and Clothing ceremony, but during the sessions in comities guest speakers had the floor. There were politicians and representatives of world famous organizations and you could ask them questions connected with your issue.

Taking part in MUN conference you should know that it is not only salvation of the problems of international well-being, but a great opportunity to see new countries, interesting people and getting experience. So participate as much as you can and improve your skills! Wish you nice time on BELAMUN and hot fruitful debates.
