Back to MUN

Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.  When we asked Tatiana Pratskevich to write about her impressions of BERMUN 2011, she came across an article about MUNs dating back to… some years ago! Let’s see how her impressions and ideas change since that time.

#FLASHBACKS:

It was a wonderful Sunday evening. We were sitting at Zhenia’s and eating our favorite cheese with biscuits...

Zhenia: Do you remember where this tradition of ours comes from?
Liza and Tanya: Of course! From Warsaw!!!
Zhenia: It was our last evening in Warsaw, and we had supper sitting on the bench in the centre of  Warsaw and eating cheese with biscuits and sausages. Although people looked at us with great surprise, we were happy.
Tanya: Don’t you agree, many “traditions” and other funny things come from our conferences abroad?
Liza: Certainly!! Especially your tradition to visit H&M in every country where it exists!!
Liza: Frankly speaking, conferences abroad are an ideal variant of having both an excursion and participating in a conference. We plan our time together, but on our own!
Zhenia: It’s very comfortable: the first part of the day is dedicated to MUN and in the evening we meet and decide what we are going to do.
Tanya: It’s also very important to have a good team, because everyone has their own interests and preferences (where to go and what to visit?).
Zhenia: Let’s think what is the most important you have received from the conferences abroad…
Liza, Tanya and Zhenia: SISTERS!!! (laughing)
Tanya: Yes, it is true! Being together all the time helped us to turn into sisters! Now we can’t imagine our life being only friends!

# PRESENT TIME

Things changed a lot... It's three years already I do not participate in the organization of BELAMUN and active travelling from one MUN-conference abroad to another. However, BERMUN 2011 conference was a nice chance to bring all the memories back to mind.
This year BERMUN welcomed our small delegation of sister-country Venezuela heartily. Four days of conference and seven days in Berlin will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience for all of us. A range of museums, kilometres of walking, tons of chocolate and coffee for parents and friends...
However, all these things can't overshadow the magnificence of annual BERMUN conference. Perfect German organization, nice and always friendly team, lots of foreign delegates with a portion of humor made that MUN a nice example of BERMUN traditions. Moreover, this conference was a special one for all the BERMUNers, those who participated in BERMUN activities years ago and those who are planning to step into the shoes of today's orgteam. That was 20th BERMUN anniversary which brought a sense of MUN community to all of the participants.
Viewing the smiling faces of BERMUNers of all times on the GA screens made us realize that MUN movement will never die, and it doesn't matter whether in Belarus or in Germany.
