BELAMUN Delegates: Who Are They?

As all the volunteers to participate in BELAMUN this March have applied, we are ready to give some interesting statistics about their background. Interested? Read the following post!

Among the participants of BELAMUN are representatives from 12 countries. The general amount is about 163 members. Being Belarus as accepting one a great number of delegates are mostly Belarusian students.

Most of them have already taken part in UN Models in different countries. Among the most visited are BELAMUN, Kiev International Mode, BERMUN(Berlin),  BIMUN(Bonn), GEMUN(Genoa), SPIMUN(Saint-Petersburg) and many others. What concerns gender distribution it is also interesting that the greatest part are females (123). The males consist of only 40 men.

The vast majority are young boys and girls from 20 to 22 years old. It is understandable for this is a period of study time, mostly the third and fourth course students. Nevertheless 3 persons  who applied are over 30.

Delegates present many various faculties. But the most popular is the faculty of international relations (52 persons). That’s great that BELAMUN will visit students of  Law faculty (16), Intercultural Communication (5), Civil Aviation (6), Commerce Economics and Management (9), political sciences (4), philosophy (2) . It’s very interesting that conference attracts not only students related to international policy, economy and culture but also youth with medicine specialization (6), Philology and Journalism (4), Business Administration (5).

Most of the participants represent the humanitarian departments, although some of the issues deal with the ecology, scientific and technological development, problems of information society. The Conference provides an opportunity to meet like-minded people to argue with opponents. During the discussions, there will be new solutions to complex social problems. Thus BELAMUN 2012 is expected to be one of the most interesting, informative and fascinating events.
